Final Short Story
It was a Friday night and it was my birthday. So I got together with some of my best friends and we went to go celebrate at Applebees. Everyone came over to my apartment around 7 and we hung out there for a little bit and talked about how our lives are going and what was new. We left my apartment around 8:30 at night and car-pooled to Applebees. Once we got there it was not busy at all and we all thought that was strange. It was a Friday night and there was basically no one at Applebees when usually there’s a lot of people there around this time.
So the host took us to our seats and said your waiter will be here to take your order in a minute. Well about twenty minutes past and our waiter hasn’t shown up yet. We thought that was very strange. There were eight of us and we all stood up and looked around, Applebees was empty. We all became worried; we didn’t know what was going on. Many questions were running through my mind like, “should we leave? Where’s our waiter? What’s going on?” So very slowly and quietly we grabbed our jacket, purses, and other things and slowly slid out of the booth and stood up.
I turn around and our waiter is standing there. He was dressed in all black from head to toe; black pants, black shirt, black tie, and black shoes. He asked us why we’re leaving. We all froze. I stuttered several times and said, “w-w-w-we’re not h-hungry an-anymore.” He just looked at me with a blank stare across his face. We stood there for about five minutes just in silence. My eight friends, me and the waiter all staring at each other and nobody else is in sight. At this time we didn’t really know what to do, it was 10:00 and I told my husband that I would be back before 10. I was rummaging through my purse and was looking for my phone to call him, the waiter belted out in a loud voice, “STOP!” I froze; I didn’t know what to do. My friends and I quickly sat back down and we all looked like ghosts. The waiter glared at us and walked back to the kitchen. We all started whispering and plotted on how we were going to get out of there and fast. We heard the door open, it was the waiter. Of course it was we were the ONLY people there. We all went back to our ghostly looks and silent. He put down nine glasses of water and walked away.
We started whispering again. I’m sure that he could hear us because some of them were talking really loud because they kept getting more and more nervous because they thought we were never going to get home. About twenty minutes later he came back with a basket of chicken fingers and a basket of french fries. He stood there for five minutes and slowly started to walk backwards towards the kitchen. There was a table behind him that he was about to run into but all nine of us figured we should not tell him and see if he runs into it. So of course he ran into the table because he was not watching where he was going. He turned around and looked at the table and wondered how it got there. We all started to giggle and he swiftly turned around and started glaring at us and slipped into the kitchen. We immediately started to whisper again about how we were going to escape from this prison.
I was looking down at my water glass and glanced up, looked at the kitchen and saw a glimpse of my husband in the window. He quickly moved. It couldn’t have been my husband, he was at home. All the other girls were still whispering and trying to figure out how to get out. I slide out of the booth slowly and stood up. The whispering stopped and they all stared. I tip-toed over to the kitchen door to see if my husband was in there. I reached the kitchen door I was squatted door in front of the door. I slowly stood up and my face was right at the window. Once I finally looked in the window the waiter popped up and told me to go sit down. I screamed and ran back to the table, terrified. All the girls stopped what they were doing and stared at me like I was crazy, which I don’t blame them! A few minutes later I glanced at the door again, and I saw my husband’s face. I was dreaming; he couldn’t have been here; he was at home. There’s no way he is in the kitchen right now. The waiter comes out again, hands us our bill and leaves. Quickly, my friend lays fifty dollars down and bolted to the door to leave. We didn’t think that that was a very good idea.
The waiter comes to our table and sees my friend standing at the door, he asked he what she was doing. She stuttered and said, “I-I-I-I have t-to go t-to t-the bat-thro-om.” He points to the back by the kitchen and says it’s back there. She stares back by the bathrooms and says, “Umm, I can hold it.” And quickly comes and sits down again. The waiter leaves. About twenty more minutes pass and the waiter comes walking out of the kitchen. But he is holding something in his hand. He’s holding a bouquet of a dozen red roses and gives them to me. I’m really puzzled and have no idea what is going on. All he said was, “here, these are from your husband.” Now I was really confused! How did he know my husband? Is my husband here? What is going on? The waiter leaves and as the waiter is walking away my husband walks out of the kitchen. I have no idea what is going on still. I ran up to him and said, “what are you doing here? We have to get out of here!” He just started to laugh. I didn’t understand what was happening.
He just smiled at me and didn’t say a word. I quickly jumped to the gun, “What is so funny?!” All he said was, “happy birthday sweetheart.” My husband was in all along with this kidnapping. All my friends just stared at him with a blank look on their faces. After about five minutes of silence and staring at each other it finally clicked in my mind that this was all a joke and that my husband was surprising me. Nobody has ever surprised me on my birthday before. Shortly after that we all piled up in the minivan and drove back to my house. I was still in shock when we got home but after all of the fear and surprises that happened tonight, I thought it was a great birthday.

Journal 4-7-11
I think that this class has prepared me enough for college. I thought this class was pretty good and a good experience for me. There are some things that I liked doing and there are some things that i didn't like to do. One of the things that I liked to do was the lyric assignment. I love listening to music so I enjoyed hearing different songs and genres from other people than what I am used to. Another thing that I liked was the poetry unit but I feel like that was a little to long. I did like the daily journal and the topics. I thought some of them were fun to right about and some were not so fun to right about. I also enjoy writing the twist ending final short story. I really like criminal and mystery shows so this is a topic that I'm actually interested in for a paper.
The things I didn't like was the science fiction short story and some of the poetry unit. I didn't really like writing the science fiction short story because it was hard to find a topic that I wanted to write about. I didn't know where the setting would be, who the characters would be, what the plot would be, and all the other things. Science fiction is my least favorite category for books/ short stories so that is why it was tough for me to write that. There were some parts that I liked about the poetry unit but some that I didn't. I thought that the poetry unit was to long. It got kind of boring towards the end of the unit because we were writing poetry for a while.

Worst Experience at a Restaurant
My worst experience at a restaurant was in Washington D.C. and I went to this restaurant with my family while we were on vacation. We asked for recommendations and some guy suggested this restaurant my mom asked if it was fancy and he said no. We showed up at the restaurant in jeans and t-shirts while everyone else was in dresses, and suits and ties. I couldn't count the number of times we got weird looks from everybody around us. So we ordered our food which was like $50 for one steak. When we got our food it was all burned and it was cold. My dad complained to the waiter a couple times but the waiter didn't fix it or do anything about it. Everybody's food was horrible, even if it was cooked correctly it still would have tasted awful. I forgot what the restaurant was called but that's the last time I take suggestions from someone I don't know about a restaurant. This was probably the worst restaurant experience that I have ever had.

Restaurant Journal
If I opened up a restaurant the name if it would be Kelsey's Kitchen. It would look like any other restaurant place. Just in a building with a lot of decorations on the outside to make it look fun and enjoyable to be at. I would serve a lot of different things. Different types of seafood, hamburgers, salads, Italian, Mexican, and anything that you could think of I would sell. People that work there would be energetic and welcoming to the customers. Also they have to be nice and patient with the customers. If the employees do all of that we would be successful as a restaurant and more people would want to come back because they liked it so much.

Journal 4-4-11
I just got home from work and was really exhausted. I thought that I saw something moving under the rug but I could have been imagining it. But then it moved again and I knew I wasn't imagining it this time. I quickly grabbed the closest thing to me, which was a chair and was about to hit it. My wife walked in and started yelling at me for wanting to hit whatever was under the rug. She said she was cleaning the floor and all I thought was what does that have to do with anything right now. Then all of a sudden a little vacuum cleaner came rolling out from under the rug. I just looked at her and she just smiled.

Science Fiction Paper
Kelsey Schile Period 2 Science Fiction Paper When I opened my eyes I noticed a totally different world than what I remembered. I didn’t know what was going on. I was lying on my back in my bed, just like snow white. I sat up slowly looking at everything around me. The room I was in was full of stuffed animals and everything princess, which was my bedroom. I quietly walked out of my bedroom and walked down the hallway to the staircase. When I got to the staircase I could hear someone downstairs in the kitchen making noise. I immediately froze and didn’t know what to do. I could feel all the blood in my body running down to my feet; I felt like a ghost, I even looked like a ghost. I walked down the stairs as quiet as I could, just like I mouse. Once I got to the bottom of the stairs I peeked my head around the corner and nothing was there. As I took my first step around the corner the front door opened, I ran straight up to my bedroom and quietly locked the door. In my head I was thinking what was going to happen to me, how am I going to get out, who is in my house. I glanced down and saw my hand; they were all wrinkling and old looking. I felt my face and I could feel the wrinkles in my face, I started to worry! I was asking myself so many questions, “Am I dying? What is going on? Why am I like this?” I opened my bedroom door and tip-toed to the bathroom to look in the mirror. I couldn’t believe what I saw in that mirror. I saw an old lady and it couldn’t have been me. I was only 14 years old, I’m not old. I was so confused why I was like this. I decided to face my fears and walk downstairs and ask the trespasser why they were in my house. So I marched out of the bathroom and march right up to the trespasser and realized that he looked really attractive. He looked old just like I did; he was taller than me and very handsome. I wasn’t scared at all to face this creature until I got right up next to him, then I was terrified. I gulped and raised the courage up and said, “why are you in my house?!” He didn’t answer. I asked again, “why are you in my house?!” He just stood there and stared at me. Then he asked, “Why are you in my house?” I told him that I didn’t understand and I told him that this is my house and has been for the last 14 years. He thought I was psycho and was giving me a look that told me he thought I was crazy. I asked him what was going on. He said he’s lived here the past 14 years. I thought I was confused before, now I’m really puzzled. He then told me I’ve been frozen the last 100 years in my bedroom and that everything has changed. I thought he was crazy this time. I asked him who he was and he said, “Hi my name is Jimmy. What’s your name?” As he winked at me. I stuttered a few time but finally spit it out and said “S-S-S-Sally,” and giggled. After our little flirt session he asked how old I was, I got really nervous! I didn’t know what to tell him, I didn’t want to tell him that I was 14! I sat there and pondered on how old I thought he was, but I just asked him instead. He said that he was 58 years old. My first thought was well I’m way past 58 if you told me I was frozen for 100 years! When I sat there looking at him and trying to think of a number he asked me again how old I was. So I just blurted out 56, he got the biggest smile on his face I’ve ever seen. After having about 5 seconds of awkward eye contact he asked me to go get dinner with him, of course I said yes! We both got ready to go to a fancy dinner together at a great restaurant downtown. After we were ready we bolted out the door to his fancy new Cadillac and sped off to the restaurant. It took about 25minutes to get to this restaurant. When we finally got there I saw a boat out in the middle of the ocean and that was it. I asked him, “where are we eating, Jimmy?” he said out there and pointed to the big boat in the middle of the ocean. My jaw fell straight to the floor and I was speechless. All of a sudden I got a whole pack of butterflies swarming in my stomach, I felt very much respected by Jimmy because he did all this work for me. We walked out to the dock and there was a gondola waiting for me and Jimmy and our own person driving. So we got into the gondola and sailed off to the boat for our lovely dinner. Once we got there we climb up the later to find a little picnic table with candles and pasta waiting for us to eat. Everything was so amazing; it reminded me of the parent trap in a way which was my favorite movie when I was younger. Over dinner Jimmy and I talked about many things such as politics, our past, our favorite hobbies and interests and many more things. Jimmy is someone I can really connect with and I feel comfortable around him. A few hours past and it was already 9 o’clock. So we hop onto the gondola and sail back to the dock and his fancy Cadillac. Once we get into the Cadillac we drive back to Jimmy’s house. I was getting ready to leave Jimmy’s house when I remembered that I have nowhere to go. I don’t know what year it is, what month it is, I’m totally lost. I asked Jimmy if I could stay on his couch for tonight until I figure out what I’m doing with my “new” life. He said of course, I’m welcome to stay as long as I want too or need too. So Jimmy goes into his bedroom and gets ready for bed and I go into the bathroom to get ready for bed. About two hours later we’re both sound asleep. The next morning I wake up to the smell of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and muffins and many other delicious foods. Jimmy had made breakfast for me while I was asleep.
Journal 4-1-11
Behind her the noise escalated from the pots and pans falling to the floor. She looked up on the counter and saw her cat sitting there staring at her. She turned around and looked at the cat when she heard another loud noise behind her. She quickly turned around and saw nothing there. She was a little scared now and thought that someone else was in the house. She called her husband a few times and left some voice mails and kept getting more nervous as the minutes went by. She turned around and saw a man standing in her living room holding something. She quickly ran in the other direction but the man turned on the light. And it was he husband standing there holding flowers for her.
